Big City Music Welcomes Malekko Heavy Industry

We're proud to announce that we now carry great effects pedals from Malekko. Their line of analog delays are super affordable and sound sweet. The B:assmaster Fuzz pedal will tear through your amp with vintage tone like you've never heard! Dang.

Voyager Old School Ready to Rock!

The Moog Voyager Old School is now shipping. The raw, awesome power of the original MiniMoog is back! The Old School has some really great sounds available at the turn of a knob or the flick of a switch. Modulate the LFO rate with the filter envelope. Control the filter cuttoff with the super-expressive aftertouch control. With its beautiful naturally stained wood case and flip-up panel the O.S. is an instant classic. Check it out here.

Oberheim Matrix 12 + TTE + Zvex Tremorama

Here's this beautious vintage monster through the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo Unit then into the Zvex Tremorama pedal. The Tremorama's sequence is set by the volume knobs at the top as well as the speed and step length which can be 4, 6, or 8 steps. The TTE adds even more warmth to the Oberheim, if that's even possible!

Eventide 2016 Reverb Snare Tests

The Eventide 2016 Reverb sounds amazingly natural. Hopefully some of the beauty will translate through youtube. This unit uses three of the same algorithms as the acclaimed SP2016 and three new ones. In this video we demonstrate just how easy it is to get great reverbs. The user interface is simply laid out and you can store your own patches for instant recall. The snare is from an Akai MPC60 II.

Future Retro Revolution as an Audio Processor

Not only does the Future Revolution sound amazing with it's analog oscillators and TB-style slides it also has an audio input. With an analog resonant filter, envelope, overdrive, and DSP effects, the Revolution makes a powerful effects processor. The Elektron MachineDrum is slaved to the Revolution's MIDI.

World's Smallest Rhodes Piano (Stage 1?)

Here is a Rhodes piano that was used at NAMM back in the days to show how the action worked. Pretty cool!

Yayaya - guitar voice - faking a talkbox

Here we have a Dirty Boy Afro Fuzz running into a Zvex Wah Probe running into a Malekko Echo 600D and finally into the Frostwave Sonic Alienator. The Sonic Alienator's bit crunching along with the sweeping filter from the Wah Probe gives that yaya vocal sound. Fun stuff!

Minimoog Voyager Old School

Here's a snippet of the new Moog Voyager Old School. We love the sound of this board. There are some cool new modulation options like LFO rate as a destination and filter envelope as a modulation source at the turn of a switch. Cool. Old School!

Crumar Spirit Party

Here are 4 Crumar Spirits that Big City Music owner, Roger Cordell, brought out of storage. We needed to test one Spirit for a professional baseball player who was buying it the other day.

We decided, why not set up four Crumar Spirits at once since it isn't very often you get to see so many together in one place.

Stephi and Ryan are noodling around on one of them.

After the party cooled down we had a chance to get a little closer with one of the Spirits. This really was designed by Bob Moog! There's a lot of flexibility in there. Two LFO's, cool modulation options, ring mod; the Spirit is truly a classic.

Moogerfooger Feedback Loop

This is a fun little patch where the FreqBox tries real hard to sync to itself. The output level of the MF-107 and the input level / envelope sensitivity of the MF-101 make a big difference in the wave shape and in the resulting sound.

MF-107 Osc. Out to MF-107 Audio In
MF-107 Audio Out to MF-101 Audio In
MF-101 Audio Out to Eventide 2016 Reverb
Square Wave LFO from CP-251 Modulated by Attenuator and Lag Rise and Fall Times to MF-107 Freq In
MF-101 Envelope Out to CP-251 Mixer with Positive or Inverted Envelope to MF-107 Waveform In

Jomox T-Resonator and Moog Little Phatty

In this video we are running a Moog Little Phatty through the Jomox T-Resonator. This is a small sampling of the amazing effects the T-Resonator can produce. Sure, it does all the normal reverb, chorus, flanger stuff, in stereo. It also does insane feedback looping with delay algorithms at your fingertips.

The T-Resonator can produce beautiful organic sounds, subharmonics that will make you check your shorts, frenetic filtering, and modulations that modulate themselves. Truly amazing stuff. We could make a video a day for the rest of the year and still not show everything the T-Resonator is capable of. If you are in Los Angeles, come in and check it out!
